Although Ryan has spent time working with numerous non-profit organizations or causes, over the past several years most of his time has been deveoted to GPI Atlantic. Originally hired to be a youth facilitator during the group's trip to Thailand for the 3rd Gross National Happiness conference, Ryan has since continued to work with the organization on many levels.

During the group's time in Thailand, Ryan was one of the facilitator's responsible for overseeing the youth during the two-week period. As well, he was involved in documenting the trip with filmmaker Marley Parker and through the blog and other social media outlets he had created before leaving Canada. Since their return, Ryan has maintained both a friendship and a working relationship with many of the youth and the facilitators.

Ryan has helped to organize numerous events for the organization. He has held several shows within the office space, as well as overseen workshops and cultural education events for both the youth and the general public. All the events have focused on providing entertainment, as well as valuable skills and knowledge, to those who attended.

Since his initial involvement with both the youth program and the overall organizaiton, Ryan has overseen and maintained the GPI Atlantic website. As the central destination for both the media and those interested in the work that GPI Atlantic has been doing, this website helps to distribute and display the tools that are being developed towards the adoption of a new measure of sustainability, wellbeing and quality of life, known as the Genuine Progress Index.
